PRINCESS AMERAH AND THE MAGIC DRESS

Amerah is a shy, young girl, whose classmates constantly tease her about her bright-red hair. She often seeks solace from her grandmother and the tales she relates to Amerah about the Magic Land of Amaryllis. Thank you for spending a very magical summer with Princess Amerah at Cherry Hill – the best Water Park, Family Fun Center, and Camping Resort in Utah!

Each Wednesday, Princess Amerah would arrive at Cherry Hill in her summer best, ready to delight and engage the guests on the “Grant’s Gulch” stage in the Water Park. Before each show, you would see the children gathering around the Princess for a chance to take pictures and receive one of her famous hugs.

During each show, Princess Amerah would choose a few lucky guests to come on stage to wear costumes and pretend to be one of the fun characters from her story! Some of the favorites included Sadie – Princess Amerah’s puppy and best friend, and Walter the Watermelon Man – a quirky, yet jolly man with a bright green mustache.

A favorite part of the show for most guests, are the 4 original songs Princess Amerah sings throughout her story time.

These songs include:

• “You Can Be a Princess, Too” – which encourages girls and boys to use their imagination, and always follow their dreams
• “I Can Belong” – Amerah discovers for the first time, where she came from and that she is a Princess
• “I Can Be Brave” – the usually frightened and shy Princess Amerah, finds the courage to stand up to the evil Queen Olga
• “I Can Believe” – this one is a crowd favorite – Princess Amerah is no longer the frightened young girl she once was, she is now a brave Princess, and this song depicts the Princess’ new found bravery and confidence.

All four songs were written for Princess Amerah by the talented Janie Wallace.

After story time, Princess Amerah joins the children face-to-face once again to take pictures, and sign Princess posters for each guest.

I think I figured out why, I – like many other girls and women – have such a drive to be like a Princess. Or in my case -and like Miss Jerramy Fine Author of “Some Day My Prince Will Come”- why I actually want to become a Princess.

Before I get to my thought, I want to tell you about why I am now writing about this very subject.

Tonight, I saw my post on Twitter that automatically posts every couple of weeks that says “Why do you think girls, and women want to feel like a Princess? Tell me what you think…” I have had some interesting responses to that question. Just today, a Dad (twitter name Dad_O) said “dunno but it sucks:” with a link to his blog where he says that he would never feed his young daughter’s drive to look up to Princesses because “it implies that the best way to be beautiful, stylish and wealthy is to be born into it” and that his daughter “clearly missed the boat to fame and fortune” by not being born royal.

While I do agree that it is wrong for a young girl to put herself down because she was not “Temporally” born with royal blood; I disagree that looking up to a Princess is a bad thing to do.

Princesses stand for poise, grace, beauty, being kind and polite, and most of all they know that they are noble and have great potential. They live up to their potential.

I think where most people get lost is in thinking only about the “things” a Princess owns and don’t stop to think about what a Princess stands for.

Sure, on the outside a Princess is usually beautiful, wears a beautiful gown, and lives in an extravagant castle; but the point I am trying to make is that you don’t have to have a certain lineage on Earth, or have all the fancy things a Princess is shown to have to feel like, or to be a Princess.

We as women have a true Divine Nature. We have the potential built right inside us to become Queens. And we all know, even if it is just a small inkling of a feeling, that we are a Princess, and have a “Royal Potential.”

You need to stop and think about what makes a person “Noble.”

Is it their Social Status? Or is it what they do for humanity?

Think about Princess Diana for example, Princess Diana, Princess of Whales was patroness or president over 100 social institutions and charitable organizations, she took her role as patron of the English National Ballet, the Leprosy Mission and the British AIDS Help seriously. As well as these she remained president of the children’s hospital Great Ormond Street and the Royal Marsden Hospital. To the many accolades which were given to Diana, belong the acceptance as Honorary Citizen of Northampton (1989) and the “Prize for Humanity”. Does a person’s clothes or appearance make them royal? Or is it their example for supporting the good, wholesome things in life?

What kind of female role model would you want your daughter to look up to, if not a Princess?

Would you want them to look up to the movie stars who have become corrupt from their circumstance and social status?

A Princess is Modest, Kind, Educated and uses her influence to persuade people to do good in this world.

Isn’t that what you want for your daughter?

In their mother’s, little girls see everything they will be, not want to be; Powerful, strong, independent, organized, loving, and etc.

Their fathers represent everything they want their future husband to be; strong, kind, protective, loving, and brave.

No I am not saying little girls want to marry their dads. They idolize their dads and see them as a male role model.

As far as being rich it just means she wants to be secure. The marriage to a handsome prince represents daddy.

When a girl says she wants to live in a castle, really all she wants is to have a home of her own.

I really don’t think it has a lot to do with being rich, living in a castle, or being wed to a prince.

Little Girls see princesses as everything they want to be as future women, kind, gentle, loved, creative, yet powerful.
